SNITZ CREEK RESTORATION PROJECT
Greening of the Susquehanna Project
In 2013, our community was selected by the Natural Communities Program to be part of the Greening of the Susquehanna Project. The project used funds from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and worked with other foundations, conservancies and private companies. Their goal was to improve the health of rivers and streams by using trees and other native plantings to increase wildlife habitats, clean stream water and beautify the area.
In 2014, working with Penn State Extension experts and Land Studies, native trees, plants and grasses were planted alongside the section of Snitz Creek located in The Villages of Creekside.
This project has helped improve the water quality in the Snitz Creek and created scenic landscaping along the creek.
